Beverage of the Week: Volume 2

I had my first beverage on Wednesday. I shared a bottle of Sancerre (a sauvignon blanc from France) during lunch with my mom in Manhattan. We ate at Le Bernardin. It’s a four star restaurant that specializes in fish. The wine went very well with the thinly pounded raw tuna with a lemony olive oil and the crispy black bass I ordered. The service was very sharp, I didn’t even think about refilling my glass because it was already done.

Other highlights from the meal was getting a tour of the kitchen and also meeting Chef Eric Ripert who is a celebrity of the cooking world.

Here are the other beverages I had this week:
Rebel Yell whisky and Coke
Tanqueray Rangpur and Sprite, I wished I had searched harder for tonic cause the sprite was too sweet and overpowered the flavor of the gin
Natural lights
Beer from a pitcher, Bud Light
Heineken bottle, terrible after the pitcher beer
house tequila
Pint of Miller LiteSutter Home Cabernet Sauvignon

We played a version of 6 cup while drinking the Natural lights. You need 6 cups and a die. Line the cups up and each cup corresponds to a number on the die. Take turn rolling the die, drinking the beer in that cup, and then filling it back up to your hearts desire.

Ordering the Miller Lite was pretty interesting. It was pretty late in the night and we went to a different bar. I went to the bar to order a drink and I guess I asked if there were any drink specials or something like that. She held up a plastic cup and said, ‘A pint of Miller Lite for 2.50.’ I immediately said ‘That is not a pint.’ The next thing I know she went and got an actual pint glass, filled it up and poured it into the plastic cup. I was even surprised that the glass still had about an inch of beer in the bottom when the plastic cup was full. I got to drink the Miller Lite out of glass instead plastic, I was happy.

The beverage of the week is wine I drank during lunch in the city.
