This picture here commemorates my first entry that includes a restaurant review.
This eatery in New Brunswick located at the corner of Drift and Seaman St. and serves authentic Mexican food. One of the measures I have for authenticity is how easy it is for me to pronounce the name. El Oaxaqueno has a high score on that scale meaning that I cannot pronounce it properly.

The tables are cafeteria-like but the cooking happens on the other side of the bar which I really like. I think its fun to take a peak and see how things are done. The patrons are not shy about putting their change into the jukebox where they play telmundo style music. The sound level is quite loud but it brings a very nice energy to the overall atmosphere that complements the colorful ceiling lights. The service is poor but I just think its because my Spanish is non existent. The food is fantastic and really cheap.

I went in to get a burrito and to take these pictures and I ordered a burrito with chorizo in it. I asked for a “chorizo burrito” at the bar area and the waitress gave me a blank look, so I continued saying, “ya know, pork sausage”… still a blank look, then I explained all I know about chorizo and said that it’s a “spicy Mexican sausage”… then after some apparent deep thought she wrote my order down, burrito w/ chorizo. A burrito is what I recommend. Some of the dinner plates are quite unusual and unfamiliar with me. The burrito is stuffed with rice and bean and a choice of a few different proteins. Beef or chicken for the less adventuress. They brown the outside of the burrito and then dump on a generous amount crunchy cabbage, sour cream and Mexican style cheese.

Other activities I have been up to is playing exotic fruit bocce ball. While playing disc golf with my brother Peter we came across the fruits on the course. We were fascinated by how remarkable these fruits were and decided to play bocce ball with them. The traditional rules of bocce ball are followed but the fruits are used as the large balls and the small ball is replaced by a Frisbee.
